IPL PHOTOFACIAL

IPL Photofacial in Gainesville, Texas

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is an aesthetic treatment that has rocketed in popularity– and that’s not without good reason! This treatment delivers impressive results in treating discoloration in the skin, acne scars, and rosacea, as well as being virtually painless! Aging can eventually reveal discoloration due to years of sun damage. Intense pulsed light treatments use targeted blasts of high-intensity light into your skin to minimize these skin concerns.

At Vitality Women’s Healthcare, we strive to provide industry leading treatments as well as world-class care and expertise to help you be the most confident version of yourself.

How does an IPL Photofacial work?

Intense pulsed light penetrates just past the skin’s surface into the dermis, targeting problem areas without damaging the top layer of your skin. As the pigment in the skin absorbs the light and heats up, this breaks up melanin from unwanted spots, and evens out the skin tone. Spider veins and broken capillaries that cause redness in the skin are also targeted. The heat from the intense pulsed light can also stimulate some collagen production– the protein responsible for smooth, plump skin, for increased facial rejuvenation!

A series of typically 3-6 treatments spaced four weeks apart is recommended for optimal improvement.

Does the IPL Photofacial hurt?

While treatments may be painless for some, others may feel a slight sensation like a rubber band pop. Treatment is generally well-tolerated, however, topical numbing is available to ensure patient comfort, although not necessary.

Recovery and downtime

There is essentially no downtime. Some mild redness or darkening of pigmented areas may be experienced directly after treatment, which quickly resolves.

Following your treatment, it is advised to avoid excessive sun exposure and to avoid exfoliation and harsh cleansers until your skin has fully healed.

Am I a good candidate?

Intense pulsed light photo facials are especially great for targeting those with skin discolorations. If you want to even your skin tone and complexion then this is a great treatment you can benefit from!

If you have a tan or naturally darker tone, you may not be a good candidate, as there is a chance that your skin pigment can change. You should avoid the sun and tanning for at least a few weeks prior to treatments. Those who are on accutane should not undergo treatment until six months after they’ve stopped using the drug, and it is not recommended for use on pregnant women.
